Establishing a Resource Database to help create a more effective means of finding information

Having a child with a disability or medical condition presents additional challenges to navigating who can help, and how.  We want to make it easier for the families out there to find information and resources, quicker than the solutions that currently exist.

Do you want to add a resource or information to the database?  Scroll below the table below for more information and submission form.

As a disclaimer, I have a lot of work to do on this database still, and it will be constantly evolving into a better way to find information that pertain to your unique situation.

Below is the database easy reference.  To download the entire database, just click one of the options (CSV, Excel, PDF, or Print).  If you want to refine your search, in the search bar type what (or where) you are looking for.  We have tried to break it down a best as possible to make it easy for your search.  Once you enter search criteria, click on the any of the options to download only the items tagged to your search results.  To expand the row and read more, click on the green circle.  4

Ability GivesFinancial Aid a child with a disability brings a unique set of challenges to parents, from learning how to manage their health needs to wanting to help them achieve their personal best.
It’s a 24/7 undertaking! And then you add in all the “extras”, the adapted equipment, specialized seating, therapy, writing aids etc that quickly drain financial resources.
While there are some financial supports available, the full cost is not always covered or a family may not meet all the eligibility requirements, and it is that amount that may prevent a child from getting what he/she needs to be as self-sufficient as possible.
For information about the grant program and eligibility click here
Access 2 CardCommunity Membership award-winning Access 2 Program is a collaborative partnership between Easter Seals and over 500 movie theatres, cultural attractions, entertainment venues, and recreation facilities across Canada. Designed for people of all ages who have a permanent disability and require the assistance of a support person, the goal of the Access 2 Program is to improve social inclusion and provide access to entertainment, cultural and recreation opportunities and experiences without any added financial burden.
When an Access 2 cardholder (the individual with the permanent disability) presents their valid Access 2 Card at any participating venue partner, their support person receives free admission; the cardholder pays regular admission.
Since launching in 2004, the Access 2 Program has emerged as a national leader in promoting and celebrating social inclusion and opportunities for active social participation amongst the disability community in Canada. Just as important, the Access 2 Program has also been at the forefront of raising awareness about the importance of accessible spaces, equal opportunity, and working collaboratively to create a more inclusive, more accessible Canada.

Drug Bankbusinesshelpful-websites Online (based out of Edmonton), medication, informationDrugbank is a comprehensive clinical database of different drugs and medications. While there is a lot of scientific information that I really have no need for, it provides a useful way to search and understand how the medication works, the other drug interactions and possible side effects when combining drugs. Of course, this is just information to help build an understanding, you should be talking with your doctor or pharmacist to clarify any concerns you have.

We need help putting this database together. From finding new resources, categorizing resources and filling in important tag information for more accurate searching. If you want to help with this please email
